From Other Mum's: |
- The best thing i ever bought for my son Jay was a baby sleeping bag. I did not have to worry about him pulling sheets and blankets over his head.
- The one thing i bought that I never used was the baby bath. My son was so small it was easier using a bath support and washing him in the main bath.
- Getting your little ones to sit still long enough to take their temperature can be a nightmare. One mum told me the best thermometer she bought was an ear thermometer.
- When weaning, buy ice cube trays with lids, and freeze small portions of puree, that way you can make up large batches of food and reheat the ice cubes when needed.
This one saved me lots of time and I did it for both my children.
- Have stacks of flannels available - cheaper and nicer than wetwipes for dirty hands and faces.
- A small empty water bottle, filled with uncooked rice and the lid screwed on really tight makes and marvellous rattle and novel toy.
- No one will ever really need a wet wipe warmer!
- When your baby starts to show an attachment to a particular soft toy or teddy, go buy another! Can save many tears and upsets when favourite teddy is in dire need of an emergency visit to the washing machine! Oh, and try to get them to love the teddy that can be tumble dried!
- Babies don't break from being held :)
- As your litle one starts to get more mobile, occupy them while you get things done in their highchair, sellotape some paper to the tray and give them a crayon (non-toxic!) you know where they are and that they're safe and you can visit the loo by yourself!!!
- If there's one thing I couldn't do without when my kids were babies is what muslin cloth for burping and plastic back bibs with velcro fastening
